Jerome & Debera Scott

When you think about Jerome and Debera Scott and the awesome team the two of them make, the other Dynamic Duo, Batman and Robin, come to mind. Though they aren’t caped crusaders, the reason they’ve been so successful in building their AmeriPlan® business is because they have taken the opportunity to offer other individuals time and financial freedom with great zeal and enthusiasm. Health care in America needs a remedy, and Jerome and Debera are at the forefront of the cure with AmeriPlan USA® .

The Scotts have achieved the highest level of recognition in AmeriPlan USA®, the prestigious position of National Vice President. They are only the fifth to be inducted into this AmeriPlan USA ®Hall of Fame out of the more than 50,000 AmeriPlan® independent business owners currently joined. Earning a handsome $250,000 in lifetime residual income, Jerome and Debera have been afforded the opportunity to live lives that were never possible before they were introduced to this company.

When the duo was asked how they built their business to the accomplished level it has reached, Jerome stated, “We’re big believers in plugging our team into the system that AmeriPlan® has in place. We utilize conference calls and invite our prospects to join in on them, and we get our team of people to do the same.” In Debera’s “utility belt,” she keeps the skill of tenacity. “Our success comes from working hard and not letting up, no matter the circumstance. I always say that there’s fortune in the follow-up, and that is where so many other IBOs miss the mark. It wasn’t easy getting to the point to where we are now. It was extremely hard work. But, we’ve learned that if we help others grow their success, it will grow our own.”

Their backgrounds played a major role in the success that they are enjoying, today. Jerome was in education for ten years, as a school teacher. He also owned his own business and had an insurance background. Debera came from a customer service and marketing background. Both spoke of their frustrations in Corporate America. For Jerome, time was his major issue when he first took a look at AmeriPlan®. “I was just extremely busy, when AmeriPlan® was introduced to me. I’ve always been considered as a person who is alive to opportunity, and it was time to make a decision as to where I would spend the time I had. I attended an AmeriPlan® Convention, and as I sat there, the business became more and more attractive to me. So, I decided to get serious about it and started doing it because I saw that the rewards were so great. I made the decision to readjust my time, putting AmeriPlan® as the source of where most of it was spent, and the time I spent doing that has proved that it was a wise decision.”

Debera echoed Jerome’s struggle with finding the time to build their AmeriPlan® business. “I was working a whole lot trying to support two girls, in the process. I saw what AmeriPlan® could offer me, so in the beginning stages of building the business, I did my follow-up calls at night after my day job. As you can imagine, it was hard. But the main element that drove me to be successful was the inequality of Corporate America. I closed major corporate accounts for the company that I worked for but never got compensated the way the company did. And of course, there was no residual income for the work that I did, so there was only that one time payout for me. It really woke me up and made me realize that AmeriPlan® was a better way. I’m a hard worker by nature, so whatever I do, I give it my all. I thought that if I was going to kill myself working, I may as well do it working for me and my children and not some company that proved that they were ungrateful for the hours I’d put in by the dry thank you they’d give me when I closed an account for them. As awful as it was, from any situation, you can pull some good from it, if you look hard enough for it. I was able to use what I’d learned working for Corporate America that has helped Jerome and I achieve the level of success that we have. Because AmeriPlan® is all about duplication, if you learn how to duplicate what you do and set high standards for those who are following you, you can’t lose. I knew that if I wanted to have the same success that Corporate America enjoys, then I would have to pattern my work habits and ways after the things that they do on a corporate level, as an independent business owner. Even the professional way that I dress, I base it on the corporate world’s standard of business, and it has shown itself approved.”

A simple, but very effective business that the Scotts do from their home (also known as the Batcave) has provided niceties that even Bruce Wayne would envy. They may not have a Batmobile or live in Wayne Manor, but the Bentley that they’ve purchased and the half million dollar home they live in is definitely a great start for the Scotts. What does the future hold for these two dynamic individuals? Will it be the $500,000 Founder’s Ring Club Membership? (Hint, hint…) Will this team be able to surpass the success they’ve already obtained? You probably already know the answer. But to find out for sure, you’ll have to tune in next time to the same Bat-time and the same Bat-channel.

Claiming new territory isn’t new to Lorene. She came to the United States from Panama when she was only eight years old to live with her grandparents in Harlem, with hopes of obtaining a better quality of life. Well, a better life she has found with AmeriPlan USA®! Sitting on a gold mine to the tune of $150,000 a year in lifetime residual income, like the Pioneers of the Old West, Lorene fought many battles to get there.

In AmeriPlan®, Lorene is just as famous as Davy Crockett and Buffalo Bill and the other heroes and legends of the Wild West. She became a legend in the Old East, being the first IBO recruited in the Northeast who would then go on to open up three markets: New York, Philadelphia, and New Jersey, simultaneously. Her legendary status began shortly after she signed on as an AmeriPlan® IBO when she attained the coveted position of National Sales Director in just four short months. Lorene’s journey with network marketing began 22 years ago. “I was very successful in all the other network marketing companies. I never left a company. They always left me,” she recalls.

Lorene was a Computer Programmer and earned a decent living, but she was devastated because of the inflexibility of having a full-time career outside of her home. She desperately wanted to be home with her children, so when National Vice President, Jerome Scott, told her about AmeriPlan®, she was ecstatic. Seeing a stable company that was growing and expanding its market, Lorene grabbed the reigns and hasn’t looked back. “I didn’t mind being a pioneer because I saw that a lot of people needed the discounts, and there was a tremendous demand for them.”

Lorene was asked how she was able to drive her income from $100,000 to over $150,000 as quickly as she did and she said, “I’ve found that working with other individuals and helping them reach their goals automatically helped me reach mine, in the process. I get my team to focus on reaching new pin-levels in AmeriPlan®. Their WHY is also a huge piece of the puzzle, as well. If their WHY is a burning desire for them, nothing will ever make them give up on their dreams.”

Like all legends, where would they be without the right tools for getting the job done? “The awesome thing about AmeriPlan® is the tools that are so readily available for IBOs to use. My organization utilizes the conference calls, business briefing meetings, and the 2 –a-day DVD’s just to name a few. They’ve been really great for building our businesses. It hasn’t hurt that I’m profiled in the DVD, either,” she chuckles. “Especially since the television crew went with Kenny and I to purchase my brand new Mercedes S500.”

As with all things, there’s never a testimony without a test. In building her AmeriPlan® business, Lorene had struggles just like everyone else. Here are the tests that Lorene faced in enlarging her territory in AmeriPlan®: “In the beginning, the company was still in its pioneering stage, so there were a lot of humps to get over. There were problems with the IBO kits being put together and shipped in a reasonable amount of time. On top of the financial burden of having two children in college, I had a two-hour commute, two to three days a week, while supporting and building the other markets that I helped open.” The testimonies for the hard work that Lorene put in are: “Now, AmeriPlan® is very efficient in getting our new IBOs what they need to start building their businesses in a timely fashion. Money is no longer an option for me, and I’ve been able to pay for private schooling for my grandchildren. I’m also able to participate in the activities that arise during the school year, and be a highly visible part of their lives and there’s nothing that can ever be greater than that. I still do the commute, but the flexibility in time and finances that AmeriPlan® has given me drives me all the more because I want others to be able to experience the freedom I now have. Plus, the three markets that I pioneered are in the Top Ten markets each month in AmeriPlan®.”

Lorene and her husband Kenny owe their success to God. “I’ve always been a faithful tither. I know what I sow, I’ll also reap. I don’t give to get something back. It’s simply a promise that God has given to all who abide by it that He faithfully follows through on. I’ve learned that putting God first causes good things to come to me, whether I want them or not, and that’s why my life is so full of blessings. God has touched my life in so many ways that it draws people to me. But I’m just one person, a human like them, so I created a way for others in my organization to tap into the same Power-source that I do. I started a prayer line. Those who choose to partake can get on a prayer call that we have every day at 6:15 a.m. I don’t take credit for anything that is happening in my life. All that I have, God gave it to me, and I’m grateful for it.”

When asked what she sees in her future, she is quick to tell you, “We’re reaching for National Vice President by 2005 Convention.” With the trailblazing she has done in her past, there’s no doubt that Lorene Brown-Watkins will obtain that prestigious membership in AmeriPlan® USA.  Everyone in AmeriPlan® knows that this pioneer, who courageously opened three markets on the East Coast and is preparing others to follow in her footsteps  is “Awwww-some”…to the third degree, of course!
